Hello. I am newly joined and down in Vic. Hatching my first lot of eggs. Araucanas and a few Brahmas. Feeling nervous and now doubly nervous, as the lady I bought the Araucana eggs from warned me about their double crown sticking in the shell. Seemed like a great idea to hatch some, at the time. The Brahma eggs are from my own birds. Why do I do this to myself? Lol.

WOW snow. Good luck with compensation. Its sad that they quibble with compensation after the heart ache they cause. Its not just stock its fur and feathered family, as well as your family exposed to it.
We buried Bear in the back yard next to the chook pen he used to love sitting there. The girls put flowers there and have made pictures for me to laminate and put there.

oh lovely. I buried Thor in the garden outside the house looking at hubbys shed. He used to love hanging in the shed with hubby. I have put a few diasy around his grave as he loved butterflys and apparently daisies are good for attracting them.

Beautiful 13 week old rooster Hand raised from 1 day old. Due to having a children's service we can sadly no longer keep it as he is too much of a liability and we don't have space to seperate him. Was supposedly sexed at birth from hatchery, however, obviously they got it wrong!

We finally got some rain 18mm on the weekend which was great we need much more but i'll take what i can get for now. My belgians have started to lay now and my only marans is laying too. I have been gifted a couple more marans which i have to go pick up next time i am over gatton way. I haven't hatched an babies yet as i kinda lost the care factor of late but i am sure that will return soon.

Satay I'm glad you got some rain. It's raining here at the moment, though not very hard. My girls are all starting to lay too. After Bear killed 4 of my chooks a friend gave me 4 and I picked 4 Araucanas from her yesterday. I am looking forward to some green eggs. I hatched 5 wheaten marans 2 weeks ago. What marans do you have? My grandkids will enjoy finding all the coloured eggs. I hadn't planned on hatching any eggs, I am waiting for spine surgery but these should be grown up before I have it. I could probably hatch more with the wait list. haha
I hope you get some more rain.

At the moment i only have 1 fwm girl and two roosters after the darn fox get the rest last year. So when i get over to gatton i will have 2 more fw girls to add back to my flock.

Satay I had my surgery now I have a month more of recovery, its driving me crazy my husband is making sure I don't do too much. At least he is looking after my girls and drakes really well. I hope you haven't had anymore problems with foxes. I hatched my marans eggs and got 2 boys and 3 girls. They are the friendliest chick I have ever hatched.

So glad you have had your surgery and are recovering. The waiting to get better is the worst bit.
You know me never a dull moment around here. About 4 weeks ago we lost our 17 year old cat. It was very sad at the time as he passed away in my arms and he was our sons cat so i dreaded the call to him but took it not to bad.
About a week later we had friends over and got distracted and forgot to lock the belgians up. I lost everyone over night except my millie rooster. Thankfully a week before i had thrown some eggs under a broody in the main house and she has hatched 6 millies and one from the porcelain pair. Fingers crossed i get aleast one girl for my poor lonely boy. He lost feet feathers and his beak is not quite right but the vets say he should be ok ,

Satay I feel so bad for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you to. I hope your boy heals nicely. We only have the neighbours cat to contend with she keeps trying to get in to the girls, Paul has made it hard for it. We have foxes around and I hope they don't get in, we are in a more built area now they sub divided the block next door into 3 units (It used to have 1 house). So I do I don't think we'll have a problem, Bear used to bark at everything now he is gone we don't have a dog to bark at cats or anything else.
