My 5 are having great fun catching and eating cicadas at the moment. Are you getting many cicadas where you are?
No actually we haven’t got any, we have heaps of crickets and the cicadas are in the paddock but I haven’t caught any yet. Instead I have been swooped by those awful black, yellow and white birds. I will post a pic in a second

Ah, a plover (Google says that they are also called Masked Lapwings). I've never been swooped by one, I'm usually targeted by magpies!

I think they are ground nesting birds. Maybe you were near it's nest.

They are, they also have spurs. Lucky I made it to the chicken runs before it could catch me.

At our old house we used to feed the magpies and they would never swoop us. But I have been swooped before, they are scary when they try to grab your hair

I agree with you there!

Have you seen this "test" to see what deters swooping Magpies? It's hysterical! :lau. Make sure the sound is on. ;)
