Don't tempt me! I've got enough chicken math problems as it is I don't know what I'm going to do!

Are they all white Sussex? Yeah I heard most brooders are not very good.. but maybe they'll learn to be better mums as they get older...?

I've decided on SLWs in the end.. so I'll end up with a group of EEs and a group of SLWs.. I managed to find a SLW breeder in my suburb who's happy to sell me eggs when I'm ready to hatch in Autumn....can't wait!

Have your Maran eggs arrived yet?

Two are coronation sussex, and one is light. On the whole they are very good brooders, and fantastic mothers, but they are all first timers, and I guess might not quite worked it out yet. It may have been my fault a bit as well, as I have been known to keep looking under to see if anything has hatched!
Good luck with SLW, I always think they look very pretty!
The Marans eggs should be arriving next week, and the incubator has arrived and I've been testing it, and its all looking very good.

Apart from the comb.. I was really surprised how similar his face is to Fuzzy! Love that blue tinge on his feathers! Where did that come from?

Yeah the breeder was also selling blue laced wyandottes but I still think SLWs are prettier...

Blue on the feathers I think is from esta … but it could be a throw back from crow … unless of course I’ve got the father wrong and in which case he’s only fuzzys 1/2 brother lol

I haven't got very many chickens, only one sussex rooster, 5 sussex hens, George the other rooster, one cuckoo orpington, one RIR, two BOs, one SS and one RIR x LS.
And then there's all the chicks, (which I'll probably want to keep some of) and the GCMs that I will be getting. (if any hatch, that is)

Its a Janoel, which is Chinese, and with a price to match. But all the reviews I could find said it worked very well, for the first year, which is all I need it to do.
After that, it seems that it can become unreliable, but I don't really care that much, as I can always get a better one then, if I want to.

I was actually wandering the same, but didn't quite like to ask! I'm down in the south east corner, quite near the vic border, and also quite near the snowy mountains.
