Oh and Luke is that your little pew grown up to that fine rooster?? Gosh he got big quick!!
Well that's good that she is back on her feet. I have never personally not had a problem with the health of my lower pecking order hens. In my flock it really just seems to be 5-6 top hens ( no 1 top hen ) then everyone else is the same level then you have your older pullets then younger pullets at the bottom.
Do you just put all the feed in one bowl? If so, try having several bowls of feed spread about the run so every one can have some feed, or have an all day feeder that is always full so that even the lower flock members can have a turn. Make sure the all day feeder is right in the middle of the run so that the lower members don't have to go into corners etc.

Just wondering when to remove fake eggs? Or do you leave them in there? What's everyone's opinion on this. I am guess in the next two weeks they will be all laying as they al started squating in a few days of each other.

I think you can just leave them in there. I have never used them myself.

Yay :) glad she's doing better :)

Do you guys know what this might be? It's one of the parents of my Yokohama Chicks but doesn't look like any Yokohama I've seen. I'm hoping it's just a color I'm not familiar with. Bf says it looks like a minohiki throwback.

I think you are supposed to take them out. But I still have 1 golf ball in each nest box, even for the hens that have been laying for a year or more. That's just mine and my hens preference.lol.
I also have a few soon to lay pullets so the golf balls show them where to lay.
Quote: Thanks. It's going in my custard slice so we shall see how tasty it is tonight
