Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

hahaha, yeah!!
Is it the same with Araucana's?
Aras have pigment all the way through their shell, but some of my olive eggers have pigment through the shell and then the layer of pigment over the top too

Hi Kat79.

It will depend on your flock and the amount of area they have. Older chooks can be really nasty, but then some are easygoing. Probably best if you can segregate them in the same area first. However if you cant and you have lots of area in your coop, both roosting and foraging, then the chicks will band together and run really fast to stay one step ahead of the old girls. The term "pecking order" originated in the chook world, because they do like to let everyone know who's boss.

Thanks sue . I have six sexlinks pullets and i will have day old mutts. so hoping Once they are about 6 weeks and have nice days I am planning to let both flocks meet while free ranging the seperate at night. I am hoping after about 12 weeks they will be fine to trail a night together. All my girls are very friendly and docile with humans so here's hoping they will be will chicks

I am jealous of all these eggs!! Even the cute little quail ones though I imagine it would take a few to make an omelette. Lol

I've only got one laying and she is broody again arghhhh so that won't last.

On a positive I think some of my faverolle faces seem to be getting quite red. Do you think that could be a sign they are getting close?
Thanks!
YES, Almost as soon as my pullets combs got bigger and redder they laid!!!
Quote: Oh, It's interesting how it would be different.

I was really naughty today and bought some frizzle eggs

Can't wait to see what I get from them... Hopefully a few ultra cute broodies!

Oh chook, don't you already have enough.LOL.

I think my frizzle has gone broody again actually, Mid Winter as well.
Can you help me actually.
If she really is broody, should I get some eggs to hatch or not?
If I let her go broody I might have the chance of getting mites back and I REALLY DO NOT WANT THAT! But I also really want so more chickies
