Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I got a new cheapy 48 egg auto turn incubator, seems to be holding temp and humidity really well touch wood. I've still got to find my independent hygrometer/thermometer to make sure it actually IS accurate. Got heaps of eggs for a test run though! Sadly I lost the last frizzle that hatched, it was soooo cute but it's legs were not too good. I had them braced and it still kept walking backwards. It ended up some how upside down in the small lip of the water container :( I might see if the breeder has any chicks available..

Have I mentioned I think we are still waiting for these faverolle eggs?? We go two slightly larger ones and then nothing since so now I'm wondering if they were from the favs at all.

Today I stood next to one of the favs and she did that crouchy thing they do for the roosters lol
I mean come on where are the eggs then????! Lol

I made my own incubator, but I bought the parts from the US, including a combined hygrometer/thermometer. It's a very good unit and highly recommend it. I double checked it against the digital controller I have and also an independent Fluke meter.

A few to choose from. Shipping and service was very good. They also have some great youtube video's if your into the DIY side of things.

Thanks Bens-hens I was just doing a search for one on the net as I think mine must have gone with my ex's things! I might just go down to an Australian geographic shop or something like that and get one today though because I want to set eggs this weekend :) I have a new line of Croads and some mixed ara eggs and getting some Marans eggs this weekend so I might swap what I have of my eggs in the r-com across to the new one but I'm not sure yet :)

LOL maybe they are going to make us wait for spring. Hope not though!! How old do you think yours is now? Mine are abou 6 1/2 months so surely they can't hold out much longer. And ditto on the frizzle chook. What a pity.

Look what I just spotted out the window. I mean really how close can you get without laying argh!!!! Lol. She has a lovely little squashed out grass area and is all cuddled in. Probably can't tell from the photo but she had a real nesting manner about her.

I picked her up and as soon as my hand got close she squated lol and popped her in our nest box. I think the bantams sort of guard it so at least now she knows it exists and she is still in there.
