Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Yep Pinky hatch finished up yesterday. It was not as successful as I would have liked but it had lots of posted eggs that didn't work and that was the last lot of eggs that were effected by the power outs and having been moved around from the crap incubator to the rcom. But I have one baby Araucana, 2 Croad Langshans, 1 dark olive egg, 5 of Terry Hills Marans and 6 my Marans. The next lot that are due in a few weeks are going really well. I have also noticed that Huxley is favouring some of the girls so I might have to split the pen up to get better fertility. I'm not too fussed for now though as I am only hatching for myself... but I feel sorry for the girls with their back feathering being damaged. Someone was advertising chook saddles, has anyone thought of using them?

Hi Chook, I haven't used the saddles myself, but know people who have, and as long as they are well made, they work well, and the hens seem happy to wear them.

My first of my own grand babies hatched :-D wettest Chicks I've ever seen, he's all goopy and looks like a boy, already has a prominent comb.

So excited :-D

there's just one Yokohama egg that looks viable so I need some positive hatching vibes! Finally a real Yoko. Turns out the last ones I bought are wyandottes ...

Chook, sorry about your hatch. :-\ awesome that your hatching your dark greens. I'm a huge fan of them. You should give the line a cool name and write up the standards for it :)
