I can't remember if I've already posted but in case I haven't..

My marans babies I'll be picking which one I'll keep soon and separating her. Just waiting for princess emiko (the Yokohama) to feather up to go in with her. Any advice on how to pick which one to keep? Chookpatch, the other three are still yours if you want them, just may be a while before my partner is cool with them going. :-\

Ok I am living with weird chickens ...When I went out to feed my RSL's and gingerhams this morning the RSL's feeder had been knocked over and was open (don't know how the bottom got unlatched) I picked up the top of the feeder and it started moving, the next minute one of my gingerhams jumped out of the RSL feeder!!... Thinking she may of been picked on I Just went to check on them again and here she is with a layer pellet in her beak and proceeded to eat it, even though she has her crumble.

Here's the little feeder dweller, she is the darker one in front.

Thank god! I haven't eaten a shop bought egg for years, I'm sure my system would be allergic to them now.

Does anyone here buy like calcium boosts or like oyster shells?
If so where?
I find that if I don't give my hens their crushed up egg shells then egg numbers drop noticeably, from like 16 eggs a day down to 9.

I buy couple kilo bags of shell grit from Better Pets and Garden's. About $5-6 from memory. I just have it in a PVC feeder under the coop, they help themselves.

Oh never mind, seems they are only a WA company! Most pet stores should be able to hold some if your feed store does not.

The Rcom full of Dark Barred and Light Barred Plymouth Rocks, (two new bloodlines), , and Silver Laced Wynandotte eggs all from Sandi at Colsanjat Farm.
I think I will have to sue Rcom for false advertising - no way I can fit more than 45 eggs this size in it!

Now that I dont live near a beach, I buy bags at the local feed store.

Don't get caught doing this as its illegal in NSW and I am not sure in other states!
