Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I notice a few kelpies, collies and healers here, what are your opinions on the best dog breed to have with chooks. I am looking into dog breeds for the new year, I have a small yard but would keen to walk him/her daily so keen to hear peoples opinions.
Hi Twee
A dog depends alot on u and if you have had dogs before. I would not recommend kelpie cattle dogs or coolies to anyone inexperienced with dogs.

I believe any pup will be suitable if you raise them right from the beginning with firm rules consistently supplied and allow them access to the chooks from early weeks

Sam was 8weeks old and I put him on the grass with the girls every day till he stayed outside

Thanks all for the congrats on little Liam. I have not got to see him yet as i live rural and my brother lives in the city. Tomorrow is the big day for meeting my new nephew.

Finally got to meet little Liam at the hospital yesterday. Hope eveyone had a great christmas :)

Hope every one's had a great holiday and Christmas.
Congratulations satay on the bub, looks like he's already in festive mode.

Bad news today though as i came home from a 6 day holiday and had a neighbor looking after the hens, not his fault at all but saw that one of my new SLW chicks called Spicks was looking a bit sad when we got home, so i just kept an eye on her but sadly she passed away. I think it was a tick as she was fitting, very sad to see quite a shock really as it was my first death in the flock

. Now i have to think about what I'm going to do about her friend as she is very lonely now.
This may sound a bit woozy but I'm going to have a burial for her tomorrow. Hope she goes to hen heaven or where ever they go.
LUKE.

Oh luke sorry to hear about the loss of your girl. It is not at all woozy to have a burial for your girl. Because i have so many only my very favourites get burials but the rest go in the compost. If you want to see woozy you should have seen me when my fav drake died i cried for hours. To others he may have only been a drake but to me he was so much more..

Thank you satay, it was very shocking really to see my fluffy little friend in such away and especially just after coming home and to see how much she'd grown in just 6 days.
I got a lovely little box for her and filled it with lots of flowers so she can be happy to where ever she goes.
