Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

WOW Lucky i have to use "no mans land" between my house and the neighbors for my chicken empire.

Lucky, until I have to mow the grass!!! Thinking of getting a sheep!!

Well my new girls are a bit nasty!! Quite a few were pecked when I collected them, and there is a bit of fighting happening! But I think I read somewhere that isa browns can get nasty in small spaces? And where they were was not overly small, but not very big either. Hoping they will settle down with a bit more space.

Ash - I love your chicken empire! I think I need to study it a bit closer to get some more ideas for housing, as we have a big run but not much actual housing

Sheep are actually GREAT lawn mowers, we had only 3 on an acre and we never had to mow it. Although they wont eat any kind of weeds so you may want to just mow the thistles or Billy goat weed if you have any. We got them a bag of feed and gave them a little bit each day cost next to nothing because they basically fed them selves and they were nice and fat and didn't rely on us to feed them. We ate the offspring of our mating pair and they tasted great.

Finally got the photos to upload! My chook run. The grey box is the nesting box, and you can't see it, but behind it is an old plastic dog kennel that they sleep in. See what I mean about lots of room to roam, but not much actual "housing"? The bottom picture was this weeks addition, some extra shade cloth. The whole thing doesn't look very sturdy, but its lasted through two extreme storms, with wind gusts up to 100kph!
