Oh my WOW it was hot today and a warm icky wind as well but my hens didn't seem to mind at not panting or wing lifting. Didn't get many eggs though.

O.K every one I just sold of some old stock and now want some more, so should I go for some WLH's and Minorca's or for Australian Langshans or for some more ISA Brown's (POL). I have my flock as a hobby and for egg production. Please help.

I would go with isa browns if you are mainly having them for eggs.

So basically importing eggs is only viable if you are a commercial operation or extremely rich!

Back to Plan B I think - recreate the breed in Oz from chooks available here.

im from Jervis Bay how far south are you ? I now live just north of the wollongong district.

oh and I only have 4 2 x lorpe cross wynadottes and 2x isa browns

and Satay that broody nasty lorpe of mine is making a convincing of being dinner.

Every 2nd week she has taken to the nesting box and i break it she is good a week then goes back to brood !

She has my cattle dog scared and the kids wont go near her anymore.

Isa Browns of course won't breed true because they are a hybrid (supposedly of RIR and RI White),
If you use the right rooster you can "split" them back to fair imitations of RIR and RIW,
that continue to lay well.
