Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hello, I realise I am way late as usual in the conversation but I wanted to say how pleased  I am you have caught the dog on tape - my neighbours dogs used to take my girls (tears galore shed) but I didn't know what was happening to them, they told me once about one just before they moved (even though I asked them to keep the dogs on their side of the property). Since they moved I have had all my girls remain.

With the rooster - I do hope you get to keep him and that your neighbours sleep through him. We aren't supposed to have them where we are - neighbours up and down the street have and we all love them (they had to give them away eventually). I had to re-home one of my girls who became a boy but he went to a sensational home and I suspect they love him as much as I do as he thinks he is a dog! He spent more time with me and my dogs than he did with the girls! They send me photos and updates regularly which is very nice.

I had to take my silkie to the vet the other day (he finally returned from holiday). They thought she had an ingrown feather but it didn't burst so they had to operate and got a tumour out of her the size of a large brazil nut, poor little thing...she has stitches and everything. I had her separated for a couple of days - she was out the front garden and the others out the back. She must have missed me as I was working out the back and there she appeared on the deck, she had walked through the whole house, along the deck, jumped down the stairs and promptly pecked the silkie she always harasses!

Thanks unfortunately the footage I got was not clear enough to use in court and as the wonderful Anna Blye (x qld premier) made changes to animal control in 2011 they can't just fine them it has to go through court :(

Well just spoke to the council guy. The complaint is that they hear him from about 5am which is when he crows so guess I can't say they are making it up.

He said they can't force us to get rid of him but if we don't fix the problem in a reasonable time they will start fining us so how that isn't forcing us to get rid of it I don't know. So.....we are going to try and soundproof their house which is actually fully open on one side at the moment (just wire)
He said he would give us a ring after Easter.

Just makes me so sad. He is a pet and you know deep down that re homing will probably mean he ends up dead.

Oh and satay never thought I'd say it but hope the neighbors dog comes over every night this week.
Also, can they not set a trap? Or doesn't that work with dogs?

Can you put him in animal cage at night and cover with a blanket til the morning. Funny isn't it you could be fined with the neighbours just accusing you and I can't seem to do anything with out x amount of proof. What breed is your rooster?

Apps, I read that you can soundproof by putting up an inside wall and filling in the wall with sand.dunno what you would do for the roof though. It needs to be almost air tight. A hole of fourteen percent will let out ninety-five percent of the sound.

Have you tried a rooster box or anything? I get up every morning to put him in his box so he doesn't have to be in there all night and during the day I have a little radio for him if he's too ornery

Sorry to hear about your problems Satay and appps. Hope it all works out fine in the end ( which it will )
.
Appp, for sure i would fight it as well!

Satay, good luck with the cam, I would get the dog and push it under to fence.lol. Then you will have your shot. Also congrats on getting your baby budgie!

Pinky, great work, very styling. You have some great talent.

Oh I've just had a brilliant idea!!

ill plant a 2m hedge on the boundary to help reduce noise. I've never planted out that boundary because it would shade their clothesline but you know what? Apparently noise reduction is now our priority.

Anything would be an improvement. It's totally open on 3 sides for 1/4 up to 100% of the wall. So covering all that up could help.

It worries me though that ill make it a sweat box or that then they will complain he crows during the day b

I would go with clumping bamboo. It's non invasive and grows fast.
