Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Margh I love the two black ones with the white on the top of their head. I'm not an Aussie but, I have an email friend in OZ, so I hope that grants me special dispensation.

Amprolium.
I couldn't remember the spelling, but here it is. It only helps there own immune system to fight it off, not a complete vaccine.

Margh;
Those are some lovely looking chicks

Can you give it to chicks that don't have cocci yet? like to prevent it?

Do you give it to your adult hens as well? If so what's the with holding period?

Welcome  Margh,

they are gorgeous ! Have you named them Yet??

We have named three so far - my two year old has named one wiggles (black and yellow one top left, silver sussex), my five year old has named the other silver sussex top right black lantern (his take on the green lantern superhero) it is all black and we named th blonde scruffy one, bottom left, Lochie after Darryn Lockyer, my favourite footy player. I really think one of the Plymouth's is a roo, but time will tell. Will let you know the other names when we have decided! They are soooooooooooooo cute, I don't want to go to work and leave them tomorrow! Will pop home at lunch for sure.

Just set up my new incubator. :)
Rcom users, is it supposed to turn smoothly? Mine kinda clunks/twitches.. Other than that, it seems good. Will see how it goes over night and add eggs tomorrow :) got some barnevelder and barnevelder x leghorn eggs at the auction today :)

Yeah they do chunk a bit as Ash said so you have done everything right. Welcome Margh, beautiful chicks :)

Hello Margh! If you think they are cute now, just wait until they grow up and run around behind you have have all their curious personalities!
One of mine (Dora) came into the kitchen (tiled!) to help my husband get dinner out of the fridge on the weekend...I thought it was cute, he wasn't so impressed!

Someone asked if anyone else had anyone moulting - I do! My golden laced Wyandotte is at the moment, well she was and now looks a bit ragged! My other girls aren't...one is lots younger (Dora) but Walter is older and a RIR so she hasn't either - I have sprayed both their houses and them for mites and lice despite no evidence of any...

Stupid question, but thats how I got my nickname of Blondie - do Silkies moult and look terrible at all as well? And are they all as adorable and friendly and cute as my ones? They are everywhere 'helping' that they can!

So sorry about your Rooster, that must have been horrible for you....

Hey guys, another incubator question sorry...
I just set some eggs I got from an auction for a test run and silly me, I didn't double check the display temp with another thermometer before adding eggs. Chucked another one in when I set the eggs and it seems to be reading closer to 35. Incubator is set at 37.5. Which one should I trust? Should I adjust the temperature setting?
Also, how snug should the eggs be between the rails?
Thanks guys guys :)

I trust the reading on my rcom never had it let me down in 3 years. You can calibrate it if you want. Pointy end down for the eggs and just put as many as will fit in the row. They can be stacked really close.
