Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I trust the reading on my rcom never had it let me down in 3 years. You can calibrate it if you want. Pointy end down for the eggs and just put as many as will fit in the row. They can be stacked really close.

Hmm, I put them in sideways.. Should I change it?

Hi everyone,

I have five "ladies" in the back yard: two balck australorps Blackie and Apple Juice, one white leghorn Milkshake, one ISA brown Bluey, and one brown scruffy looking thing called Scrufy :)
They are all named by my three year old son...
Scruffy was bought from the markets as a point of lay hen, but I don't think she was. I think she was old then, looked like ex battery hen - no feathers and, well, scruffy.

We also have eight japanese quails (two of them boys), and 27 quail eggs in an incubator - due to hatch this weekend :) Can't wait!!!

Just to follow on some posts I read, in my opinion best remedy for lice and mites is diatomaceous earth. It is natural, food grade (not the pool filter grade) and I just mix some in a sand box for the ladies to bathe in. Works well. It also kills fleas and some other bugs, but is safe for bees and earth worms.

Welcome Red, You son has great taste in names.lol.
Care to share any pictures?

Diatomaceouse Earth is very debatable substance to use. I personally have never used it but think it would have some beneficial use...just were to get it from?
