Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Oh hadn't realised that Luke. Are you going to try and keep him? I guess no harm in trying, and if the neighbors don't complain you could trade up for your maran rooster :)

We live in tropical far north queensland. Have a HUGE lot that we free range ducks and chickens (amongst others!!) on.

I have a LOVELY local feed store lady who has heaps of feathered stock and advice :)

Anyone know what the babies of a giant muscovy and regular muscovy turns out like?

Yeah,, Well I'm going to try. My last rooster wasn't a smash hit and he was only sold off like 4 months ago.
But I have got a new coop more away form the neighbors, i is much darker and there is a massive hedge as a sounds barrier.

Yes, I am so keen to get a Marans and I would only be able keep 1 rooster so would have to get rid of my WLH, but that means getting past my WHOLE family.lol. They love him, I think he is wonderful as well. He is for sure a lap rooster and my favorite chicken in my flock at the moment. .

I think you will be seeing him soon...perhaps on the front page of BYC....I hope!

Welcome Amber :).

Debstar - you could try googling local poultry clubs, they would probably know who breeds what in your area.

Luke - you have me intregued now, will be watching the front page :)

Any of you folks got away with keeping roosters in the surburbs?
I want to hear your stories, I got a Welsummer rooster that I have had in my yard for over a year now and no council ranger visits since 2011

I have both mammoth muscoveys and standards. The cross is more like standard. Welcome to the aussie thread.
