Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Forgot to mention.

In the cities there are increasing numbers of Kangawallafoxes.
They are a marsupial that prey on birds and small live stock like pups and lambs.
They will also eat the eggs of your chickens. If you get them they are really hard to get rid off but it is possible. They are solitary animals.

They have also been known to attack humans but only foreigners to Australia. They are attracted to the sound of American accents as well.

For Ashes last post this is what a drop bear looks like.

You guys are mean!!!! :) ...and I suspect she may be Australian... and yes, foxes are coming closer...and yes, there are show quality silkies in Glenorie (north west of Sydney)

Deb - please say hello tomorrow at the silkie place (they may be able to recommend pekin breeders for you as they have a variety of birds out there), they should remember us as they thought it was funny that I asked my husband for a new swimsuit last year for Christmas but since the weather was so shocking in summer I changed it to two silkies! They kindly pushed us up the waiting list - if you do say hello please let them know I adore my girls and they are massive on personality!

Cheers!

Hi Everyone, I'm in Ohio now but relocating back to Sydney in July. Will have to leave my small flock of Silkies with my dad. I'm really going to miss them. Hope it won't be too long before I get my Aussie Silkies. What predators will I have to look out for? Any recommendations for breeders of Show Quality Silkies?

Welcome ! Don't mind the humour where in Sydney are you coming to?

Has any one seen any Marans, faverolles or KC ducks about?
I know someone around Canberra is selling fertile Maran eggs (The facebook groups I'm a part of are full of chick pics) for $80 a dozen. I can't seem to find who, but if you have facebook, join the canberra poultry buy sell admire group and you should be able to find them.

And if you find anyone with Khaki Campbell to spare, let me know :)

Also; EVERYONE! The lady who sold me my duck eggs (which are developing nicely) has hurt her spine and needs to sell some ducks and chooks. She's from Temora NSW and here is her add

She packaged my eggs in about a thousand layers while still letting them receive a great air-flow, so I can say she is honest and actually takes care and pride in her poultry. She's selling her Pekin ducks and some pure-bred chooks, email her if your want to know what kind (I'm not entirely sure what she has as I was interested in the ducks).

Also, another thanks to the sydney quailman, Sam, for my quail eggs. My poultry collection is finally starting to take shape
