Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Okay so checked out the bosses flock. Only about 8-10 hens. That's not going to be enough for two roosters to share happily is it.

It does depend though.... on a lot of things. The individual rooster may only want 2-4 girls but in genereal as a rule of thumb, 1 rooster to about about 5-8 hens. Depending on the rooster though. This just helps the hens from injury and stops the roosters fighting. So he has a big WLH so he may need 8 hens and your little rooster may only need 3, unless he wants more.lol.
It may also depend on the age of the boy's. A younger one is going to want more girls, but an older one may not let him. If your rooster is older than the WLH he might actually take over the flock.lol. Even if he is smaller!

I'm really not sure how it would go.

Doing the happy dance!!

Found a better home for Ed. Mentioned to a friend who knew a lady keeps poultry so she checked and she will take him! 54 acres and 40 hens. The young fellow will be worn out lol

So he leaves tomorrow, bit sad But now the kids can go back to cuddling their hens without him getting jealous. :)

This is GREAT, so glad he is going to a better home!

Sorry, I have already posted to you original Q.

Thanks on both. Im just glad i can just relax and stop worrying about it now and just concentrate on our new favs coming Saturday :)

Thanks Deb :). Kids are a little sad but its for the best. I'm just on a sort of high here after all the worrying :)

Luke - yep they're coming!! Cancelled the other order and am picking up the 10 week olds. Turns out too the parents were from eggs from one of the top fav breeders so hopefully we will pick out some little gems :)
I'm busily trying to chick proof our 4m square pool fenced area from where our blow up pool was. I had planned to put them in a seperate run in the existing pen but then started reading about quarantine needs. So now its a mad rush to get a plan B ready for Saturday!
