Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I paid $10 each for my first quails in my local rural supply store.
Considering their life span is only about 2.5 years it works to be quite expensive - hence the incubator.
I bought some fertile eggs for $7 a dozen, bought two dozen and got 4 eggs extra. Not all hatched, it worked out $1 per bird at the end. Fully grown in 6 weeks.

The boys do crow. It is not loud or annoying in any way, and they only crow in breeding season (unless they have artificial light). The crow is quite pleasant really. I honestly don't remember if they crow early in the morning. It is a mating call, so in spring you can hear them through the day. Right now my two boys are not making any noise at all.

Just heard a commotion so we went outside to check and our kite I took that photo of before was sitting on the cubby house railing.

He couldn't actually hurt the bantams or the new chicks could he? The new ones aren't too much smaller than the bantams.

Oh and quick question. The silky just laid an egg literally in front of us so know it would be from the right hen to hatch it (others would be frizzle frizzle)
But my daughter took it inside and I've just discovered washed it because it was sticky lol
Bin it now?
