Why can no one keep their chickens healthy.

If I can treat my chickens for lice then everyone should able to. Especially if you are selling them.

I have just found lice on my new hens

. Well at least it's just lice....I hope.

Have an of you heard of Tylan 50? If so, were can I get it?

Just heard a commotion so we went outside to check and our kite I took that photo of before was sitting on the cubby house railing.

He couldn't actually hurt the bantams or the new chicks could he? The new ones aren't too much smaller than the bantams.
Yes the kite will take chicks. They are predators and will take any opening to feed

:hmm blue tomatoes? That's awesome!

Ash, what's your cross breed project? I really want to breed Houdan with my pr roo to see if I can get a barred Houdan with that great comb.
Call it macgyver's Houdan :p

Also, finally starting my pallet coop.

my cat Samus, aka Samsam (seriously :p) is helping :)

.... Something weird is happening here in the Colourful household...

I intended to put my Pekin duck eggs across to the hatching incubator tomorrow (day 25)... But one has pipped today. 4 DAYS EARLY?!?!?

It's definitely hatching, not cracked as I haven't opened that incubator in days and the duckling inside is moving around.

I've put them across now, but has anyone heard of this happening? Ducks hatch at day 28 with the exception of Muscovy ducklings which need 33 days. No breed should hatch before day 28....

My world is turning up-side down.

On another note, I HAVE DUCKLINGS HATCHING

Pinky- I am on the 3rd generation of a couple of projects to improve Araucanas.
One- I have split Isa Browns into "whites" and "reds" and crossed the whites with Lavender Ar roosters.
Two- Crossed Lav Ar roosters with White leghorn to hopefully produce a pure blue egg.
Three. Crossing BBR Ar roosters to black Ar cross hens.
