Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

How common are teeny tiny eggs from Isa Browns? I've just had my second in a few months...smaller than a quail egg!

Hi

I live in Melbourne... Got my first 15 chicken nearly 4 months ago. All hybrids so trying to be patient in waiting for the first egg!!!
Hi, Kat. Welcome. Hope they all lay soon for you!
slightly each side of the vent luke. Left and right at once.
Snakes are vent sexed too they use a probe. You must know what you are doing or you can hurt the snake. Mila was already done when we got her.
O.K, I will have a go at it.
That does sound tricky, glad Mila was done professionally.
With all seriousness I would not suggest anyone get a snake unless you are really into them. They need to be handled all the time. To get a licence is a just paperwork really and you have to pay a fee. Think it was $60 for 5 years. You have to keep records of where they came from (must only be a licenced breeder) if you sell one or it dies it must all be reported. Massive fines are in place if you do the wrong thing (of the things mentioned before) but if you love them like we do they are a joy to have around.

I don't think any one would get a snake if they didn't like them.lol.
I haven't heard of having to report them if they die before. Why is that, do you know?
Can you get perm reptile license?

The Quails.

Their cage!

far right, Cpt. Feather beard, next brown jap quail, next 007 a Tuxedo quail.

Snow white, English white.

Golden Mancharin and English white.

Cpt. Feather beard

Their hole, which they do NOT use as you all predicted. Feeder and water.

half of the cage, inside.

4 of them

more of the cage

whole view of the cage. They definitely have enough room in their.
They are all very friendly as you can pick them all up with little problems and you can pat some of them without having to pick them up.

My little Gold Laced Wyandotte is currently struggling to survive :(

I found her covered in blood this morning. I naturally suspected a predator attack but found instead that under her wing she has a tumour, which had started bleeding badly.

The vet has cauterised the bleed and referred us onto a bird specialist, we can't get there till tomorrow (and about a 60 buck taxi ride away at that), so for now all we can do is keep her warm and try to get nourishment into her. She lost a LOT of blood and is really pale and weak, so we are not sure if she will pull through even to the vet tomorrow let alone whatever comes next.

I did manage to get her to take a small amount of diluted gatorade and a little bit of egg yolk, and her crop was still half full this morning when I found her, she was in superb condition apart from this mass, so maybe she will have enough in reserve to fight.

I'm sorry to say that we lost our lovely girl this afternoon. She had just lost too much blood to recover.

We're pretty cut up, she was our favorite girl, really friendly and sweet natured. The flock has moved on, we haven't yet.

Oh mog, So sorry that this happened
