Luke, I won't be able to sell eggs at least not sure bred, because I can't have another roo but if I could I'd totally give you a sweet deal
smile.png
you can have some chicks if you want though. Same for everybody, but I am only getting a dozen eggs :p they're going in with some minorca eggs.

Believe it or not, I only have two chickens. Will be hatching some interesting breeds though. The Yokohama, minorca, some silver campine and blue andalusians (eventually) houdan, marans and of course the Plymouth rock and Araucana

What I think I'll end up keeping is a couple prs, a white houdan if I can, an Araucana, an austrolorpe, and a marans.

Oh, well you know your gonna have a few boys in that hatch. How do you plan on getting rid of them?
I thought that was the whole reson for getting long tails...The Big ornamental rooster

.
I would love to get some chicks. But don't see how I could get them from you.lol.
Can you feather sex them?
Hey Luke I finally got a runner eggs today after so long. Only one but it is a start.
Congrats, Now lets see if mine pick up their act.
It is pouring down here AGAIN, so I don't think there will be any eggs of any bird today.

Luke, yeah, I guess that does sound a little silly :p but yeah, just planning to keep a girl at this stage. Will look like a plain ol' chicken but I'll know she's fancy :p Actually, my partner just said I might be able to keep a breeding trio at his parents' farm :-D
As for transporting Chicks, (and I'm totally not pushing them btw, just he you want them. I don't even have the Eggs yet lol) there's a guy that transports birds and eggs. He'll do trips from like Melbourne to Sydney or Sydney to bundaburg. He stops every couple hours to feed and water everybody and is very careful with eggs. Dunno how much he charges though. There's a woman in Tasmania that says she can get Chicks to me (two hours out of Melbourne) in four to five hours but I'm skeptical :p

That sounds a good setup pinky. I'm always a bit horrified by these threads where the Americans put them in the post and then end up with dead chicks in a box. Have wondered if such a thing goes on here but can't imagine Australia post taking live animals. But you never know.

Yes, this surprised me as well. I have a friend who ordered some chicks a month or so ago ( in US ) and she got 6/6 chicks dead

, sounds like a terrible way to die, even if you are a chick with the IQ of -32.lol.

haha, doesn't sound silly to me at all. I have only just recently got a rooster my self.
I think the hens look pretty shmick anyway.
Hope you do get a trio some day though.
I have actually looked into the whole chicken travel thing, but there do only seem to be a few private ones just starting up. I think they cost a lot at the moment though as it is all pretty new.

Satay I would love your passionfruit recipe mine are spoiling as I'm not sure what to do with them all

Passionfruit cordial

12 passionfruit
3 teaspoons of tartaric acid (found in the cooking isle of most supermarkets)
3 cups of sugar
1 cup of water

Boil sugar & water and tartaric acid til sugar has dissolved. Add passionfruit pulp and cook for 2 mins.

Strain and bottle when cool

I used the recipe x4 to make what I did the other day.

Sam I also made this the other day too

Passionfruit Curd

pulp of 8 passionfruit
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs
125g chopped butter

Combine passionfruit pulp, sugar eggs and butter in a small saucepan and whisk over a very low heat until mixture thickens. Do not allow to boil. Stain to remove seeds if desired before bottling.

Keeps in fridge for up to 3 weeks.
