Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

So if its in backyard flocks isn't where these are heading? I'm sorta confused what threat it brings if its already here?

Yes it is. However, quarantine has zero tolerance to any disease. Just because there are incidences of it does not mean that they will allow it in.

Harder to understand is the meat chicken industry's objections. If it is already in the country in backyard flocks, what is their problem. They do not allow anyone with poultry to be employed at any commercial chicken ranch - for biosecurity reasons.

Thanks everyone for your advice, I'll be off to get some antibiotics tomorrow, my little auracana has been like it for a few weeks but it does seem to be getting better, i wipe her nose once a day to get the crustys off and she seems fine apart from that, i just noticed a snot bubble from the frizzle today, but when i finally caught him he had no snot, maybe im just being over protective but maybe not lol. I'm just not sure how to separate them, they've only just started sleeping in the coop with the big girls, they got too big for the cage they were sleeping in. I've got a shed i could put them in, that I keep my feed and chicken stuff in, but no light gets in and then I would have to let them out with the girls in the day anyway, what if I just treat the entire flock (10) will that work? I'm still trying to figure out how to feed them chicken starter without the rest eating it, cos since I stopped my isa pullet started laying again. I think I think too much about chickens lol

Sheesh, I'm away 2 hrs to watch Sir David live and I miss 5 pages.
Ridiculous - I am getting a couple of doz Light Sussex eggs from a friend soon. - he will probably charge me $5 a dozen.
I am just amazed at how people can buy them, is it that they are just not educated or do they buy them more as pets.
Also everything was over priced, they had like 3-4kg bags of chick feed for $12. For $3 more I can get a 20kg bag from my local store.

That's what my dad said, just supply the Sydney sellers and get a big profit.
Quote: GOOD NEWS, but how many chances are there feathered fowl going to get, I hope they are allowed to be re tested.

Ok, I'm convinced I have two girls laying, Found two eggs again today, both different colours. The one on the right is from my Speckled Sussex and the other is a mystery. All the breeds I have are in my signature... it's driving me crazy. Would anyone know who the culprit is?
My guess would be the Australorp too.

Treat the entire flock it wont matter. If you have to keep the two lots together just make sure you offer both foods. The older ones will probably eat some of the starter/grower but it wont hurt them.

Cheers guys - I'm thinking she's the one too.

Good news on the outcome so far, but the wait would be agonising. Lets all hope, pray and keep fingers and toes crossed for a good outcome!
