Hey bec! Your nice and close to the sea like me, if you look north west and squint you might see me waving to you across the water. It's so cold down here today, are your gals laying? All mine are still too young of too cold to think about laying. Good luck with the chooks!

Hi Brock, Yup I'm only minutes from the sea which is really nice in summer :D My girls haven't laid any eggs yet, I've only had them since the weekend so I think they're still settling in and getting used to their new home/coop. I have their coop in a courtyard on the side of my house where I can watch them from my living room and I let them free range in that for the time being (I'll let them go in the backyard once they've settled in). They come out every now and then but I think because its so cold lately (and wet!) they just want to snuggle inside and who can blame them haha. * Waving back with a nice warm mocha in my other hand brrrr

I know, it's nice being able to relax while watching your chickens!

Hello everyone!

I haven't been on for a bit because work got in the way - you guys move so fast I am sure I have missed loads...Colourful, I am so excited about your Emus! Will they be friendly if you keep them do you think? I would like one or two if I had room but have to confess to being a bit in awe of them; guess its different if they are yours?

Afro made a full recovery from the tick, but we were back at the vet on Saturday as she had some weird neurological thing where she couldn't stand up. It was very odd. He gave her some calcium and a pain killer and I had to keep her in intensive care (in the house and front garden...shame!) for three days. The next day she was running around like normal and ran away when I went to pick her up. She is now officially the most expensive chicken I have had! :)

Thank you for telling me to persevere with the porridge, they love it! And yoghurt as well!

I noticed Walter had a bit of a pink bottom this morning when she was eating, her feathers look a bit odd down there as well, its not hot and doesn't seem to be sore (when I touch it) and she is eating and behaving as normal, is there anything I can put on it or do I wait and see what happens?

As for the aviary, my silkies sleep in one (with a bed inside it), they have a mini run outside it for when we go away but otherwise free range. They love their aviary, but I have to wrap it up with tarps in winter so they don't get chills...

Pinky, I didn't even know you could have a post deleted! And who cares if you say who you took to buy or sell? And why would you tell people you don't care about over the Aussie bunch? Maybe whoever did it was drunk?! :)
