What's wrong with your retirement home being a farm?

Haha, my retirement home is a farm. Inlet farm. Problem is since we moved here we have never worked so hard. Bringing in hay , shearing goats, putting up fences, competing horses, the list goes on. We also have been restoring a 165 year old house. My chickens are my retreat. I sit with them to have a cuppa and contemplate the day.

No, just add a layer of clean sand at least 2 inches thick over the existing soil. Very important it is clean sand though.

What breeds did you get?

I have a leghorn, isa brown, australorp and two mixed breed chicks. Funny though never thought much about chickens before, but they all have different personalities. I find my australorp the most interesting and friendliest.

You even have a volunteer operator for the digger. You might have to get him out of the bucket and into the cab though.
