My backyard is now back to normal. One chicken coop with my 4 hens and one 20 week old pullet.
Friend's chickens went back home on the weekend and the roosters are in the freezer.
Update on my baby quails: out of the two I had to hatch - the little one didn't make it. I thought it was doing well, but then it got weaker and died.
The one with spayed legs made full recovery. It is smaller than the others, but doing well. 10 healthy quails in the brooder![]()
I have 22 eggs in the bator now, from my birds. Fertility test, see how we go.
Good luck with your hatch. Sorry about the little one. It is much easier on the emotions if they don't hatch at all.
I also have just put a heap in the bator. The darkest ones are straight Australorp eggs. Strangely, I would say the other eggs are darker than they look in the photo, however, the Australorp eggs look exactly the right color.
