Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

They aren't adult feathered until about 18 months, but you can clip at 8 weeks when they are first fully feathered. You can cut them now if that's what you want, but there's no need to really, unless they are always escaping from the run or flying out.

Sooo i'm thinking of incubating eggs and selling them, Sydney and especially the north shore of Sydney is soooo hard to find fancy chickens around so i want to sell Silkies, Pekins and Frizzles.. BUT here's the hard part for a first time chicken hatcher, what is the best incubator?! I'm thinking a 48 egger there seems to be a few on ebay any help is much appreciated :)

The best incubator is a difficult concept. It depends on your budget and how much you will use it.
I have just bought an Rcom 50 and would consider that close to the best.
A lot of people get good results from the cheap hex incubators on ebay.

New babies. My first natural incubation this year.
The new young mother is doing very well now, considering she let all the eggs get
stone cold twice early on in the sitting.

Gorgeous Ash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure why, but chicks with a broody are even cuter than incubator chicks.

We'll I can honestly say " don't " go near the JNL-48 on eBay. I've got 2 of the silly things, and neither of them work properly. A word of caution , unless you sell them from day old to week old, chances are you'll get stuck with some and there's a 50/50 chance they will be roosters. I have 6 lovely roos and 5 x too young to tell. Nobody wants roos. I have a sneaking suspicion that , like me , you are a bit of a softy and wouldn't dream of culling.
I could be wrong, but I'm usually a good judge of character.

Love the new chicks Ash, Grats. I got my self 2 new adorable pekin hens yesterday. I miss my chooka and when i saw a lady was selling some I could not resist. Will try to upload some of them in a bit. As to roos i don't seems to have to many problems getting people to take my extras. The lady i bought my pekins from took All my roos from the rir. wellie hatch.
