Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Wow they are really nice fancy. My SLW hen is fairly old so I wanted another to keep her company. feathers on my chicks are 2 SL and 2 GL don't know if they are hens or roos yet. My Big Roo Boots looks so much like your BLRW but was sold to me as a BLGW.
Granddaughter named him after a character in Dora haha.
Looking forward to picking up my SLW on Monday. After seeing your Coros I wouldn't mind a couple of them they are just gorgeous.
Yes Karen , Steve bought eggs from me, and was very happy with his hatch rate. Here are the parent stock.

Oh sorry Satay...Hope you are feeling a bit better soon too, I do not envy being unwell in the heat.

Congratulations Luke, any more pipping?

Oh
Bit sad for me . Lost my beautiful chester over night. He was my first ever rooster and a pekin bantam cross. one of my neighbours came down the hill with chest when we were first here and said i see you have a few chooks can you take him as he is violent.... I took him and chest was anything but violent, a sweet little gentleman. I am not sure if the heat got him or just old age.. I though booster my large roo who i have had a few weeks less than chester would go first(they were both fully grown when i go them so not sure of age.) but no... Rip little man. sometimes i am sure i am more attached to my roosters than i am my hens.
so sad

LUKE

You asked some pages back (I can't keep up with this group, it moves too fast!),
for some tech specs of my new Chook Palace.

OK - foundations are 3 m by 2.4 m treated pine sleepers
(because that is the sizes they come in - saves time cutting wood.
They will only last 30- 40 years as against 100s of years for concrete, but probably long enough to see me out.
Dig them in level.

Bolted on top we have frames made from 70 x 35 mm NON-STRUCTURAL framing pine
Bunnings sells this about half the price of standard framing timber- it's good enough for chook houses!

Roof and walls are second hand corrugated iron sheets.
I couldn't recommend more my new Dual saw - cuts through tin like a hot knife through butter!

I screw everything together with tech screws and roofing screws. - If you ever have to move it, it all comes apart in sections.

Hope this is of some help.

I would also recommend you get a book on basic house framing- the principles are the same for any structure you build.
