2 weeks away from BYC Aussie thread and 297 posts to read! Just like having a new novel waiting to be read. Reading through the posts, I was admiring some coops featured but wondering why no one else had goanna & python problems. Then came Luke the goanna wrangler to reassure me that I am not alone! If i have young chicks peeping in the coop , I can almost guarantee a goanna attack & I can guarantee pythons EVERY night so mine have to be closed into snake proof roosting boxes.
It is really badly wet here, I have never known my coops to smell before (disgusting bog like a pig pen!) and I actually feel cruel when I have to keep them locked up but due to two roosters & seperate flocks they need to take alternate days freeranging.
Fric & Frac, my 2 purchased frizzle babies (silkie x ?) have successfully integrated into my older roosters flock. No one likes them but no one is hassling them. I have NO idea of Roo or hen, obviously hoping hens but I think maybe one of each.I will try (dependent on constant down pour0 to get updated pics so you guys can give your opinions.
I was really interested to read the pekin VS cochin bantam info. I have always been totally confused regarding this but I am now sticking to the fact that mine are bantams & Aussies so they are Pekin! Have I got that right! I hope everyone who was wanting rain now has it - PLEASE- take some of ours.
