Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hey guys, we had a massive storm front hit at about 2 pm yesterday. We were at a BBQ, when we got home it looked like a hurricane had hit. The massive tree by the riverbank came down crushing a canoe , the trampoline and the ' lazy chairs ' . Luckily it didn't hit the house. The power is finally back on , but there are trees down everywhere . We have huge clean up job today. Lucky it's a public holiday here. The chooks were all a little rattled and there are several big limbs down in the main pen, one has left a big dent in the chook house roof.
Yes Lucas this is the little wild duck. I'm glad we put the ' Disney ' gang ( duckling, chick and rabbit ) in the laundry before we went out cause their hutch was smashed.

Very lucky you did put them in the laundry :) Hate to imagine what would have happened if you didn't :(
Gorgeous looking goanna Luke :)
I had one as a pet years ago when I was in my teens, till he got into mum's chooks and she shot him :(
She wasn't as lenient as you :) lol

Gosh Fancy. Glad the chook and the house were ok. Sounds like your in for a busy day of clean ups.

Yep definitely sure.... I've put it down to all the hot weather before I set them. She is as healthy as a normal full term chick, it is quite bizarre.
That is so cool though!

The Disney gang sure is lucky!
Glad there is no major damage and all your animals are safe!

I could not imagine having one as a pet. They are one of the few animals that freak me out. Had one run at me a few years ago on the veranda. I screamed and ran inside to son and his friend and they could not stop laughing at me .

Mum hated him :) He'd come running as soon as she sharpened the knives in the kitchen :) She wasn't scared of him, just used to ask me why I couldn't have a normal pet lol
I had a meat chicken that used to ride in the tractor with me, Leo the Goanna and my carpet snake, she was petrified of him :)

Anyone that remembers my diamond dove tootie that had her mate killed by a butcher bird agers ago. I finally managed to find her a friend yesterday, Not sure she is to keen on the intruder in her cage yet lol. Will try to get some pics today.

Thanks guys, yes we have a big clean up ahead of us and that's just the garden area. There are at least a dozen big gums down out the back, the birds are out singing again this morning but I haven't heard the juvenile sea eagles since the storm. Will take the dogs for a walk and get some pics of the damage.
Lucas, in 1981 we were posted to HMAS Tobruk. We drove to Qld and I'll never forget it was so hot we stopped at a park and tied to the water tank , with a dog lead, was the biggest lizard I had ever seen. Apparently it was hassling the families that were bbqing in the park , so they tied him up. Never seen anything like it, I tell you it was as big as a Labrador .

Can see you bringing home injured wildlife :) hehe
Hope there is no major damage done :) Nothing worse than cleaning up after a massive storm
