Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hi everyone.... Does anyone around me have some Speckled Sussex girls please? I inherited a lovely roo who was the only boy amongst some day olds that a friend got a few months ago and she can't keep roos in her suburban yard...so the beautiful boy has come to live with us! Problem is he was used to having some lovely female companions and now he is lonely

(I have separated him from my other feathered lovelies)

Brisbane to the Gold Coast kinda area would be good.... Happy to pay (but not $70/hen like some people are asking.... Sorry if you are one of those people!!

Thank you

Hi, I got my chicks from http://www.heritagehatchingandhens.com.au & am very happy with them. They have speckled sussex chicks in stock for $15 but their pullets are pricey. They 90% guaranteed mine would be girls but I got the utility layers & I don't know if they do the same for pure breeds. They are near Waco which is on your side of Brisbane. Their feed prices are the best I've seen too although I'm on the Northside so it's a bit far for me. All our local farmer feed stores seem to have closed in the last few years so I'm curious where everyone else in this area gets their feed from if not from Petbarn or CityFarmers.

There are lots of stock feed outlets everywhere. Petbarn and Cityfarmers are waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too dear.

I bought my white runner from there. I agree their pullet prices are crazy. I thought their feed price was way to dear but I have a lot of produces out here to choose from. I am sure you would be able to find a produce somewhere on the northside depending on where you are. I know there are a few still at Samford and Dayboro.

not sure if you are close to any of these .

I will be getting another 7 hens today. A neighbour is moving and wants me to take her hens. Most are crosses I think but they will go well in the layer pen :)

Hi all. I'm new and from country Victoria. I'm looking into getting my first chickens, probably Wyandottes.

Welcome!

I've looked at their site too and though my gosh, those pullet prices are quite dear.

I buy my feed from my local produce store, they are a family run business; friendly with good prices. I'm happy to support the locals

The more the merrier! The black utility layers I got were given to me by a friend. Seems I've become the place to take your unwanted hens, as my Light Sussex hens were given to me as well.
