Thank you everyone for your kind words. It's been a long road for her, but she's growing in her comb and wattles now and shouldn't be too long til she's laying so I'm taking that as a sign she's getting better.

I will be getting another 7 hens today. A neighbour is moving and wants me to take her hens. Most are crosses I think but they will go well in the layer pen

Thanks... I was hoping to get some pullets/hens so that he had some girly companions straight away... I will get chicks if I can't find bigger girls... But my lovely roo will have to wait a while for a little female attention if that's the case ;-)

Maybe you could put a "wanted to buy" on the chickens for sale Brisbane fb page. There are a lot of purebred breeders on there.
