Satay, it was Laucke show bird breeder that you are using, correct? Went to get some this morning and it was only 17% protein, so I got game bird grower instead, as it is 22%, and I use it in conjunction with grain. Probably just should keep feeding them the pullet grower, which they keep pinching anyway.

@Rexy @Satay Why a feed with more than 20% protein? Is that just for your normal everyday feed....ie. do you feed this to them all the time or just certain ones at certain times? Thanks

I use ' Gamebird finisher ' 22% micro pellet mixed with free range grain. At this time of year the protein increase brings the feathers in and also helps to increase egg production.

I don't use that high a protein level for hens. I use laucke mills showbird for my marans and I make my own grain mix for the rest...I average it out to around 17%.
