Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Temporarily delurking to once again ask a question ;)

I actually posted this on the chicken behaviour thread because I seem to hit you guys up an awful lot for advice and then I realised that you guys are probably the only ones not sleeping at the moment.

I am a bit worried about Dusty and was hoping for some advice as to whether she is just molting.

If you have a minute, I would really appreciate you checking out my post and hopefully putting my mind at ease, please ....

That looks like a normal moult to me. You would have a heat attack if you saw some of my poor sussex at the moment. They look very bad. They always have wicked moults.

Tee hee Satay, it sure was a bit of a shock!

Ah well, we live and learn, just another learning curve in the chicken adventure.

Thank you for responding

Lol, my blue laced red Wyandotte looks remarkably like a buzzard. He's lost his tail and all of his hackle feathers. A lady came to pick up eggs yesterday, she was horrified by the amount of feathers in my garden. I had a job convincing her that the dogs hadn't killed a chicken.

Does anyone know much about Mille Fleur Pekins?

I want to know if you have a MF roo and a MF hen... Do you get MF babies? (I just realised how dumb that actually sounds!).... But what I want to know is, does the MF colouring pass on all the time or is it like a fault that will only pass onto some and others will be plain brown, etc?

Thank you !

Good evening to you all, I have a quick question about vaccinations. I was wondering what schedule you follow and what you vacc for? We've had fowl pox break out in our young flock, they all seem to be coping ok, I'm swabing them all with betadine but we want to start vaccinating our chicks as they hatch, so this doesn't happen again. From what I have read we have had the perfect weather and environment here at the foot of the Blue Mountains for it to thrive. Also if anyone has any tips for treating them until it passes would be great.
Thanks

This link may help.

I got home at 5.30 and went straight out to the girls, had to use a torch because it's dusk by then.

Could only see two, one looked well, but the other had died - don't think it absorbed the rest of the yolk properly.

Really excited what tomorrow will bring; it's going to be hard to attend my final day of my WHS course that's for sure.
