So our chickens are finally allowed to get out and they are making slow progress, but I have heard them making some noise. One particular one that isn't ready to lay is very vocal LOL

Talking about rain today is finally sunny, all the other days we have had plenty of rain to the point that our tank is full. We have no bore so the whole house is on the tank as is any garden we have (only fruit trees so far).

It looks as bad as it feels then. Sorry Satay, if I offended about the bore. Around here, the cityites use bores to keep their grass green that dies cos they are stupid and mow it too low in the dry times. Bores on hobby farms are great for the essentials.

cwrite, town water is totally different, I was referring to underground water.

Not at all rexy. I agree. I only water one small part for the babies and i only do it once a week. I am happy to have it for the tanks for the house for sure.

I apologize if this is something that has already been covered to death - I couldn't come up with anything by searching.

A lot of the treatments I'm seeing for chooks don't seem to be available in Australia (gentian violet, blu kote, antibiotic creams) and I'm wondering what everyone in Oz uses in place of the treatments more readily available in the US. I'm trying to build up my chook first-aid box. Ideas would be lovely.

You can get antibiotic creams, blu cote or something similar and most antibiotics and probiotics from your local produce or online.

Probiotics I can get easily but I called my local feed stores and vet yesterday and none of them had anything like blu-kote and I couldn't get any kind of antibiotics without making an appointment and going into the vet's office. I'll continue to have a look online - I must be missing something.
