Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Thank you guys for your kind condolences.

I've had one snake on my property in the 2 years we've been there; was a monster of an eastern brown in the chook run. Thank goodness it didn't bite any of the girls. I just herded them into the coop, shut the door and he made a hasty retreat.

Seen plenty of possums, tawny frogmouths, the occasional kangaroo. Speaking of roos, on my way to work this morning I saw two men on the side of the road trying to help a huge eastern grey roo buck that I think was hit by a car. Poor guy, not sure if he made it or not.

We get all those too K and a few koalas as well. There have been roos dead all over the roads out here too right now. No grass for them to eat so the try to cross the highway to find more grass. Normally doesn't end well.

Which is very sad. They're building a new estate up the road from me where a couple of mobs used to live in a huge grassy field before construction started. I suspect this buck from this morning was from one of those mobs that have all be ousted from their digs.

Thats sure is sad. One side of the highway out here is over 10 000 acres owned by the same person the other side is 5 acres plus blocks but with no rain they are on the move looking for better feed.

Quick question before work (ugh) my chicks are about 5 weeks old (my friend is looking after them and I pick them up sunday) would it be possible to put a 3 week old chick with them without issue? Or will the older ones peck at it?

I just really want a silkie lol

Having done it don't get just one silkie if you can, they really get excluded by the regular chooks. Adding a 3 week old silkie is also different to adding a 3 week old regular chick. For example the silkie we got was 5 weeks old but had been put in the week old brooder to protect her from the other regular bantam chicks her own age.

Question guys on worming chicks.

My favs always had slightly dirty butts. I wormed them about 3 weeks ago and have just noticed that for the first time I remember all 3 have clean feathers. This makes me wonder if they did indeed have worms.

I didn't worm penny as it was an add to their water thing and being broody she wasn't drinking much so thought it better to wait till she was than her only get a minimal dose. So now she is drinking properly but I have peep in the mix.

Do I just leave her a bit longer till peep can also be done and what age would that be? She insists on only drinking out of the chick waterer so I can't just add it to her water not peeps.
