Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Move them to Finland.

No.1 is coop, no. 3 is run.

So nice to see temperatures in celcius! I can actually understand that.

I would never venture outside! My little cat behaves as if it's the North Pole around here during winter. I'd love to see her in snow. (where's the evil laugh icon?) I don't have special plans for the heat aside from changing the water twice a day so it's cold & throwing a few ice cubes in. I tried water in an old litter tray & my chooks didn't understand about wading in it so I've given up on that.

I also give them cold fruit in the late afternoon, but I'm not sure how much that helps.

Was heading out to do my chook chores and I swear I heard the girls saying yay she's bringing special treats!

Cwrite I'm going to try frozen soup this year. Not sure how its going to go. And installing misty sprinklers in their run

I like the idea of misty sprinklers, but worry that it encourages bacteria to flourish. Is that a risk or does it get so hot that it just evaporates?
I've also been wondering how nipple feeders work in extreme heat. I bought a few, but considering that the water in my hosepipe feels hot, I wonder if the water in a narrow pipe would be the same. Does anyone use them?

Howdy folks

Wooo hoo for the weekend! Chicken quality time coming up; in between the predicted thunderstorms!

K Spot so sorry to read about Onni

Your other chickies are adorable!

Regarding keeping the chickens cool, I put ice cubes in their water and frozen vegies, have some watermelon on hand and I have a mister set up on the run. Fancy mentioned in the past to be careful with the mister + hummidty = nice place for unwanted germs to congregate so I do use it sparingly and only on those very hot days. They like to lay on the cooler damp earth. I also have shade cloth over the run so damp that down with the hose also.

Satay loved the moonaverse story, cute!

AussieChics I second the 2 x silkie option! Either that or a Frizzle! I have only one Silkie as her sister passed away but her and the Frizzle buddied up nicely.

And, of course, the Silkie you get cannot be in quarantine all by itself

City farm I have not seen the wine either but then I like my 1 x Bourbon and Coke of an evening and have never really been a wine drinker.

I also wish you luck with your national recognition with NWF.

cwrite the pictures of your littlies on their first outing is so sweet; they are beautiful!

As I mentioned above, I have a mister system but make sure it only really just moistens the dirt enough for them to lay on and it dries out pretty quickly.

I spent some time with Tina's bubs this afternoon. They both have black (or very dark) skin and while the grey one is looking very Silkie-like (not pure) the other is definitely Frizzle. The grey one has a single comb similar to Tina's and the Frizzle has what looks like a rose comb. Still got no idea if they are boys or girls and they have me scratching my head as to just what they are going to turn out like

Blondie's two littlies are feathering out but not enough to get a good idea of what they are going to look like either.

Barnyard mixes are fun but also very frustrating!
