Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Not something I wish to experience again in a hurry. Yes we are all good. Got a slight ear ache in my left ear but besides that we are all good. Got 28mm of rain doing the happy dance about that.
Cahrazy storms and rain down here in NSW too. :/ It's been raining for days. Good to know nothing was damaged!

So.....integration has gone very well, I've got them all together now and everyone plays nice except cranky pants winry who I saw give pepper a peck yesterday. The others have had a peck at penny on and off but left pepper alone. Winry is mean to everyone sigh.

My last hurdle though is getting them all to sleep together. While they will wander with them during the day they won't let them roost with them at night. Every night penny tries to join the with pepper following behind and every night they chase her off and she ends up back in their little box. Getting a little frustrating and as their sleeping quarters are pretty small I worry about forcing the issue as they would have nowhere to escape to if it turned nasty. Do you think it's going to sort itself out or am I going to have to step in somehow?

I would put them in together once it is dark. They seem more excepting of new ones once it's dark. You will need to check them first up in the morning for a few days but I think that would be your best bet.

Thanks. We got about 65mm of rain all up from the storms so far. Very happy about that.

We got about 50mm yesterday according to our gauge. It all comes down in a giant, hour-or-so long torrent and that's it. It's made painting the new coop problematic. :/

It's raining like crazy here, which is frustrating because it's the last chance I have to do a burn off in the area I'm building my coop. I was hoping it would lighten (I work for the Bureau of Meteorology) but work predicted it correctly :(

Good morning folks

Fancy also sorry to read about your dog. It is amazing that anywhere between 6,000 and 24,000 people are killed by lightning strikes each year and 240,000 injured. That old cliché about more chance of being hit by lightning that winning Lotto is a scary fact!

satay happy to read that you are feeling better and it sounds like your son was definitely in the right place

appps I am pleased that integration is going well. I am not sure about forcing the issue or whether it will sort itself out but if it was me, I would probably leave it a bit longer and see if it does sort itself out.

Reading further, I like satay’s idea of popping them on the roost IF you can be there early in the morning to make sure they are not picked on.

Yesterday’s rain put a bit of a damper on my quality time with the gals but we still managed a few hours in the garden.

The forecast for today (and the rest of the week) is more storms but hopefully just in the afternoon so once I get the housework out of the way, play time in the garden!

So Cilla has been in broody jail for 3 days now totally out of sight of nest boxes or eggs. I have to lock her out of the coops also because even if the nest boxes are not available, she just sits on the roost and sulks!

She gets to sleep on the roost at night and free range when everyone else is out. She is still picking on Blondie occasionally. In an interesting turn of events, yesterday when Cilla picked on Blondie, Dusty (2IC) stepped in and picked on Cilla!!

This morning, when I popped Cilla into broody jail Dusty and Cilla were having a staring competition through the wire. I do believe that Dusty is taking advantage of Cilla’s incarceration and taking a run at the matriarch role .. sweet! GodCilla could do with knocking down a peg or two

I'm so pleased you have had ome nice rain, Satay! Bout bloody time.

I'm tossing up whether or not to sell my black sex links aka the Agony Aunts at a poultry sale next Saturday.
I feel a bit guilty of I do decide to as they are good egg layers, absolutely nothing wrong with them but I've got my little growers of purebreds and I think I'm going to be pushing it for space.
The Agony Aunts are also probably my friendliest hens of my flock too, I'm very torn on what to do.

I'm also taking the cuckoo faverolles cockerels and the two araucanas to the sale. The fav is a very gentle and quiet boy at the moment so hopefully someone will want him for their girls.

So in Marans news, only two hatched but I'm delighted with them!
