What do you think of this?


Faint barring is starting to show on several of my chicks. I'm happy with them and as I'm not breeding Ara's I have the luxury of enjoying pretty chooks without worrying about genetics, but I'm curious how such faint barring could turn up. This one has the most obvious barring and I have one with a bit of white lacing starting to show. Would the barring be very faint because of crossbreeding several generations back? If you click on the photo is might show a bit better.

Looks like a cross with some barred or laced breed maybe several generations ago,

Hi all, just introducing myself here as well, after a break of over a year I have chookies again and this time we own out house so can build a proper dog proof run! (See my intro post for that story :/ )
I have a mix of 5 11 week old hens, started with 6 chicks but one started crowing so he's gone to my uncles property where the neighbours can't hear him. Looking forward to getting to know other chicken mad Aussies. See if you can guess what breeds I have (one is just out of frame so if you guess that one you get bonus points lol)

I'd guess Easter egg er or Araucana RHode island res LIght sussex Barnevelder buff is the one I'm not sure on is it frizzle pekin ?

I tell you what I never knew how many different breeds there are! Growing up it was laying chook, meat chicken and wild chicken lol
