Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Gotta laugh at your broody @Teila :). Did wonder if you are locking her out of the box too normally? if she can get in the box still it could explain why she is so hard to break. Would imagine just removing the nest but allowing access would be just like removing eggs but allowing the nest. She would be too silly to notice either were missing and happily nest and stay broody just the same as long as she could get to where the invisible eggs and nest are lol

Your garden looks great! I had a garden day as well, but it was a vege garden day. Trying to reclaim it from the weeds, it's been so wet though I haven't been able to dig it for ages. Looking forward to having another try at tomatoes. My last lot I got about 5 fruit and then they died. Hoping it's not too late and now to try again before the fruit fly hit.

I've had some bantams in gumtree for a week and nothing :( I'll keep them if I have to but they aren't the breeds I wanted/ordered,
Roosters are so hard to get rid of! Mine all went to the farm to get fat

I have 1 wet unhappy chicken walking around like she pooped her pants (she wont let me dry her). But she's nice and clean now which is good. She seems her normal self even after the ordeal of catching her.

satay I am having a lovely chuckle at your roosters expense; poor little man!

appps as I am not working at the moment, the gals are free ranging for the majority of the day so Blondie is normally locked out of not only the nest box but the coop and run also. I took the picture just before their bed time when I opened up the coop again. The nests go back in once I am sure she is going to stay on the roost but she took the brief opportunity to hunker down

vehve congrats! Coop of the Week; well done!

AussieChics my gals do not let me dry them either; if any of them do need a bath, it has to be early in the day and warm enough for them to dry. They are funny when they are wet

Did someone mention Gumtree? Thank you for the reminder, forgot to do my searches this morning

Do you guys know if our Australian kites are a threat to a full grown chicken? Noticed one circling in the air a couple of houses over yesterday and wondering if I should keep the chickens on supervised lawn time and if under the bushes where they wander the rest of the time is ok.
It used to come watch the favs from our gumtree when they were about 12 weeks old so we put bird netting up (temporary run long gone) but haven't seen it since then till yesterday. Guess it's it's baby feeding time again.

I've never been too worried but was talking to someone last night who had lost chickens to a hawk locally. Has made me a little nervous.
