Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

They're in the same order Orthoptera but they're not actually that closely related despite the similar appearance. Crickets creep me out though.  I can handle spiders but crickets are disgusting.

So agree with you. Its the creepy legs and the fact they jump at you ... They were jumping all over me and I was screaming the whole time the girls were trying to launch at me to catch them.. Must have been a site.

I think for me it's also the wonton cannibalism. And not like, "Hey, we're starving and you're starting to look good." it's that they don't distinguish between each other and other food like...at all. Your neighbour looks JUST as delicious as that carrot over there. Whichever is closer.

Haha, would like to have been a fly on the wall.

I blame my younger brother for the grasshopper phobia. He used to chase me with them when i was a kid. Infact he chased me with one at easter last year and he's 37. Funny i love stick insects etc. But grasshoppers and cricket... I'll take a pass.

I have an earwig phobia and my house is infested with them because of all the rain and warmth. It's a ridiculous and harmless thing to be afraid of but they totally creep me out. Spiders: fine Earwigs: NOPE. XD

I think I'm going into Goulburn today to get a reptile lamp to bodge up a brooder just in case. Because: paranoia. XD Hatching day should be at any time over the next 72 hours. So excited!

Get a chicken diaper and bring your chickens inside!

I bet they'd take care of them quick smart.

I used to have arachnophobia, but then as in a situation where spiders dropped onto my face literally every five seconds or so for three hours. I couldn't get out of the situation (it would be either fatal or expose me to far, far worse things than spiders), and after about an hour I just started picking them up and throwing them away.

I'm not that blaise right now, but I no longer care too much, heh.

It's a horrid way to get over it though.

Today, chicken math happened, and I finally got my araucana:

She's gorgeous.

And I also picked up a French Wheaten Maran:

The maran is sitting on my knees, she's beautiful and incredibly tame.

If that Araucana is a hen I would suggest breeding it back to a different colour,
as it may have "fragile Feather" problems (caused by breeding Lav to Lav too often).
Also choose a roo that is " 'over crested"and well muffed and bearded, as this one lacks both.
