Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Tee hee City Farm yep, that is funny and while I have seen it before, it still makes me laugh :lau

Cwrite good to read that Stampy is OK.  My gals have been a bit hit and miss on the laying of late.  Being Bantams that is par for the course but I also think the heat is playing it’s part.

Gees, losing your nature corridor is the pits!

Lolz tandykins yeah, my gals also fall for the false-food- throw!

When the flock of 4 are gathered for treats, Dusty has perfected the vertical take-off to give her that extra height advantage.  None of them have any qualms about taking the mealworms directly out of their sisters’ beaks!

Aaaaw K Spot I am sorry to read that your SS really took a beating.  Poor little gal; fingers crossed that she makes a full recovery :fl

Congratulations sweetbeak and Coco!

Well, if I struggle to come up with news in a week, I definitely have nothing since my post yesterday!

I do however, want to wish Cilla and Dusty a very happy second birthday! :love

Happy birthday dusty and cilla, sardines on the house.

Thank you Fancy, I was wondering what to give them for their birthday; a couple of meal worms a day are now the norm, not really a treat more a given/demanded and they get watermelon every weekend (when available).

Sardines is an excellent idea! I discovered how much they love them at your suggestion and they have not had any since Cilla’s bout with sour/impacted crop.

I now know what they will get for their birthday and of course, Blondie and LuLu will help them celebrate

I totally understand that you will not be reading the whole thread, I have enough trouble catching up after a week at work

As you can see on my profile, I do not hail from NSW but there are some on this thread who do.

When you get a chance, I believe we would all like to hear about your flock, what gals and maybe guys you have and of course, pictures are a given

On that note, I have not had a chance to take some pictures for a while and being a beautiful day, time to head out and take some pics of the chicken birthday party we are having

I hate my phone! Had a whole post and then I lost it.

Rundown. I think my chickens prefer the crunch of the egg shells.

And 1 of our red girls started laying. The eggs are smaller than the smallest eggs we already get. Not sure what we will use them for.

Hello fellow Aussies! Just found this thread, hi from Central Coast, NSW :) Anyone else nearby? (Sorry for not reading through all 19,000 posts to check haha)
Pff. Ain't no one got time for that.

I'm Sandra. I live in Gunning, NSW near Canberra. *wave*

More chicken pictures! Bring them on!

I was having issues being diligent with my mealworm breeding box for a while until I realized that I could find perhaps 2-3 worms but had perhaps 200 beetles. I started being more diligent about adding fresh veg and taking away the old veg and this explosion happened within a couple of weeks.

You can also see Charlie, a lone roach who had the misfortune of wandering into my house. The punishment of this is to be tossed into the mealworm or cockroach bin. A steady supply of oats and carrots - what a punishment!

Around the same time I realized that 'd been neglecting my wood roaches. I went into the container expecting a container of little corpses - of which I found many. Then when I lifted up one of the egg cartons, hundreds of lovely, healthy wood roaches poured out. Yay I don't suck as badly as I thought! The populations still aren't enough to feed my birds on but it's better than a box of dead bugs. XD

If you want cockroaches I have millions of little German ones living in my house, I can't get rid of them :/
