Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm thinking rooster now that you've said that. The other one has a nice pointy tale with no long bits. But I'd have thought it would be crowing by now....

it won't let me get a good pic either. Also the person I bought the eggs off said these were Anconas. Now I'm very confused!

Anyway sold the 2 little red ones. Hopefully daredevil doesn't cause too much strife for them! 2 more to sell and I'll be happy with numbers.

was cleaning out the coop but its decided to rain! I know I've been wishing for rain but now is not the time lol
Certainly a rooster.

I may be engaging in serious study avoidance behaviour. So, has anyone here tried quail?

How do you keep snakes away from the enclosure?

Ok so it is Day 18 tomorrow...and I just candelled and the air cells look waaay smaller than in the pictures... like they haven't moved down the sides of the eggs....and are only a tiny bit bigger than they were at Day 12...i am worried!

I don't know any pro-life options sorry...aside from small cage mesh and a concrete floor so they can't burrow in...

That's ok. I'd just worry about getting bitten because most people tend to get bitten when they have a spade in their hand. The only thing that I could think of was keeping them inside a building, preferably a shed.

It's ok once they are tangled in the netting because they get so caught up they can't really move at all. I reckon it is frowned upon to kill snakes but just don't advertise the fact...
They will often tangle themselves so badly that they die anyway...i prefer to kill them so i know for sure they are dead then i can cut them loose and dispose. Wear heavy gloves when dealing with heads...even a dead snake head can kill you...better to be paranoid than poisoned! That's what most aviary and quail owners I know do...that and the concrete floor...
