Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Here's a first for me. I am going to keep my fingers crossed for no rain this week. At the dinner the other night it was decided that we all go to my house for Easter... I hosted Christmas so normally we do Easter in brissy if that's the case but no... I now have to mow 6 acres of grass this week as well as catch up on 4 peoples book work that they have been too busy to bring to me and need back urgently... Hubby started a new job in Brisbane last week so he is gone in daylight hours and my son is in Brisbane for the week doing exams for his course he is doing.. What do they say it never rains but pours.

Samuel sounds like a real character. We've had enough rain to kick start the grass again. Lawns for me today .

He sure is for a 4 year old. He also told me when he found out he was coming up for Easter.. I want to hold turbo.. The snake and see Benjaminis chickens. He doesn't forget anything. He loves collecting eggs which could be a problem if they girls don't lay him any eggs. He walks in the back with the sheep. He's a real farm boy unlike my brother.

Sj im so jealous :-( interesting that i dont think u had a quarantine period did u? No meet and greets behind barriers either? Just straight in

Well my lot decided to barrel up the girls again so now theyve gone the girls have decided theyre just gonna sleep and groom directly under mum.. thats it, they havent moved away from me for about 15 mins.. think im gonna have to leave so they can start exploring again.

Took some pics ill share with u in another post :)

The chooks are from the local area and spent the first night in an ajacent cage. After that I let them all free range under supervision. If there had been problems I would have speratated them again. I Would quarantine them if they came from somewhere that hadn't already had chooks added to the farm flock that our first chooks came from.

So instead of taking hundreds of photos of my darling Rodney and thats about it I decided to focus on hector today :) he is filling out beautifully and looking gorgeous so why not give him a confidence boost. Rodneys reaction to photos is ill stay back here and look handsome and protective. Hectors i found out today is the total opposite. Loves the camera and wonders whether it can be eaten.. could get him far enough away to get more than his eye half the time!! :-D

Quarantine is a personal choice but I have read story after story about entire flocks being wiped out with coryza or CRD. The only birds that I have ever had with problems came from a well known registered breeder. As a result of my strict quarantine rules , they were never introduced to the flock.
If a bird even leaves my property it has to do the full 6 weeks in quarantine on its return. Better to be safe than sorry. ;)
