Your ig looks great Ash. You gotta love the little roos someone really forgot to tell them they are little. The big and the small of it. My Bantam IG rooster loves squaring off with the young LS roos, who are only about eight times his size. And I know who would win the fight if they ever got together. Good news - the new Show quality LS have started laying - just waiting on the IG hens now! xxxxx M![]()
I'm getting 1 to 2 marans eggs a day nowHowdy PeepsFancy congratulations to your daughter, you and of course, those beautiful horses
chooks01 aaaw, what a beautiful bub! They Call Me Bruce!
Tee hee appps a million dollar question makes a change from a silly one
Hey Satay, yeah it would be good if you could check out the wing thing next Pekin hatch; I am curious. K Spot congrats on the fertile Casanova eggs and congrats on Merry’s first egg Deej211. Ash your IG boy is stunning!! And apparently very brave
Your LS roos are also beautiful! I read a post yesterday in which the OP was woken at 01:30am by excessive screeching and the stench of skunk. She went out to find no dead hens but two injured roosters. Her Australorp and Americauna saved her hens and ducks from a skunk... the skunk was badly injured and she had to put it out of it’s misery. Her roosters are going to be OK and are getting lots of love and TLC for their wounds … clever boys! News from Bambrook Bantams .. zip, zero and zilch
Still only one layer at the moment .. Dusty. Getting 1 egg every day or two which is better than nothing

Rather happy so just thought I would share a poop-date ;-)
I have not had a normal poop from Carl since the end of April. I was very excited to find not only solid poops in the little cage this afternoon but a total lack of any watery or diareah or undigested grass ones as well! Still rather more yellow than normal but other than that looked normal so I am daring to hope this means we have turned the corner and are heading towards recovery!
.... Um .... I cannot in any way, vouch for this link ... but it was interesting.
Frankly can't imagine chilli being something that chooks would delight in ... but here's a link to a devised natural mash for worming.
I have some doubts - but here goes :
http://tomatotales.com.au/chicken-worming-the-organic-and-low-cost-treatment/
I can understand the turmeric in it --- but ??? ...
Would love to know some thoughts on this. .... Probably couldn't hurt the girls - just fed as a mash, even if it does little as far as worms are concerned.
I do know that worms do NOT like garlic.
Cheers all - Anniebee.

I find 2 days ample.Twice a year I steep 3-4 full heads of garlic in water over night after bringing it to the boil . Fill the water dishes and let them at it. (As a preventative measure )
Another way is to put a whole garlic in the leg of an old stocking , smack it with a hammer and tie it off to the wire and leave it hanging in the water dish.
If you decide to add paprika or cayenne pepper , try sourcing it from your local Asian grocery store. They sell it in bulk. I grow my own purple garlic.
Hi guys!! Been busy here as always, my husband is back in town so I managed to get a weekend to myself (well just the bub home but she's a peice of heaven) was bliss! But they trashed the house within hours of getting home :/ I'm sure I'll get the hang of this single parenting thing before they leave home (Lord please don't let me be single for the next 20 years !!!)
Adding to the madness is 6, 5 week old kittens!! Growing beautifully, so proud of my cat, she's a great mum. Ive also taken in an orphaned kitten on Monday, his mother had to be put down when he was a week old so he's been bottle fed for 3 weeks, just over 24 hours after meeting Chloe he was nursing! She just seems to know he needs a bit more attention because she's been hanging around a bit more than normal to feed. tonight I managed to introduce some solids to him. He tried to suck it up rather than lick but with most of his life with no other cats to learn from I don't expect too much, he's sweet and very people oriented but his manners are terrible even for a kitten! My hands are shredded from feeding and toileting but already noticed an improvement.

In chooky news I've just filled my third carton, granted 2 dozen had to be thrown before actually making it to a carton but I have a dozen edible eggs already! 3 eggs a day.
That one hen is still really scruffy, laying daily but looks awful ! I've been adding meatmeal to their feed to try get her protein up for feather growth, what else can I do? Just wait it out?
