We are having an upgrade! Biiiiig plans on the horizon for large enclosure and lots of baby chooks and ducks! Yeehaa! Also going to get my beehives later in the year! Finally! Sooo excited about the new projects to come!

An egg has just pipped! So excited, this one will be the 8th, I've got seven in the brooder at the moment and I have some due in the next couple days and 4 Hampshire's due at the end of the month

Aaah chicks are the best, I'm so impatient though! Once this batch of chicks are reading to move into a coop I'll be getting some pekin bantams, No matter what I always have my hands full with different types of animals. Got these baby chicks and two lambs to feed late at night, so i'm pretty-dang tired.

Oh, and guess who's the father of the Hampshire eggs? Fruit-Loop!

News from Bambrook Bantams:

Thank you for the congratulations on Crystal’s first egg, she laid another one the next day and as I type, she is on the nest with KiKi watching her

Now Cilla has definitely cut the cord, these two are inseparable.

Yep, those little cages are very handy. Even if I never use it again, I am hanging onto it; it doesn’t take up much room in the shed and is good in an emergency. This is the temporary set up I had for Blondie when she went Broodzilla:

On the egg front, we got three on Thursday; first time we have had three since 20th Feb. For the first time in ages, I gave away half a dozen eggs to my neighbour last week.

Dusty is still semi-moulting but she was checking out the nest boxes yesterday and chomping into some shell grit last night so she may be thinking about a return.

Cilla and Blondie are laying every day or second day and as you know, Crystal has just started.

No idea when little KiKi is going to give us her first egg.

LuLu is still on strike .. however, when everyone else pretty much stopped laying at the end of February, she kept going until the end of March, so she is allowed to take a little longer.

The most eggs we have ever got in one day is three. Having 6 girls now, it will be fun to see if we can break the record with a four, five or maybe even six (but I will not be holding my breath for that one

We ended up putting him down and bringing him home to bury. I spent about 6 hours on the phone trying to get him into adoption or foster program but given he had killed other animals and was no longer trustworthy around children it was impossible. The people at Maremma rescue were of great help to me. We decided not to abandon him and ensure he would never hurt anyone else.
I rescued a new duck today. I wish I could post pics from my phone, he is very cute

Hi there, just new toy his page, residing in Canberra, after a mishap with our first 2 we currently have a friendly little bit and an inquisitive fat Australian both about 16 weeks old. While living at home, I helped my dad raise chickens for 20 years and now after having my own family have decided to get some girls for my own backyard.
