Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

OMG i was on my youtube account and saw that I posted a video that I was meant to send to you guys earlier this year Im such a goof in it and was wrong for all of them except for clare so yeah please don't judge

Haha, love the narrative . Wish I could help but I've only ever owned one goose. She swam in here one day and I called her Lucy goosey . She thought she was a duck and lived several years here. She was helping a duck with ducklings when one of the big trees on the river bank came down. Lucy managed to get everyone clear but herself. By the time we found her she had drowned. :( she was a good duck momma.

awwww thats is about the cutest little picture ever!!!! And what a clever idea! How did he go in the long run?
Dont know if u can shut the night area off? If i move/introduce the chooks to a new place i leave them locked up in that area for 24-48 hours so they get used to sleeping there. If theyve just decided to sleep in the run because uve added it ull have to keep moving them until they get the idea i guess.
Wow thats a lot of broodies!
Very clever idea!

Great work on the temporary area apps!

Yeah i met someone who always refridgerate their eggs. Someone i could have sworn said FREEZES them... ***!? I definitely wouldnt.

1000

He's an absolute sweetheart . The only way I can tell him apart from King George is the length of his Spurs. KG won't allow LG in the coop so he sleeps in the pony shelter and he still allows me to run my hand down his back and ruffle his tail feathers. He is also a bit heavier than his dad.

He's lovely!

Introducing Scruff 1 and Scruff 2 ;-) The smaller one is the one had the cord still attached.
Very cute! Good luck on popping them under your broody! When we put 4 day Olds under ours we did it at night and all at once. She woke up, they all peeped, she clucked at them, big commotion. Anyway they all seemed to have worked it out by morning.she had been broody for many weeks. I quess it all depends on the hen and a bit of luck. Hope all goes well 2nd time round. In our brooder we have used a 80watt red outdoor spotlight type of globe which can be purchased from bunnings.

Well looks like we are hand rearing them. Popped the quietest of the two under and it was much quieter covered like that so didn't even peep. She wriggled a couple times then as it tried to move she would adjust and do those mummy bok bok noises. Sat there for ten minutes doing that then just as I thought it was going to be okay it must have popped it's head out and she just growled and attacked it. Pecked it a few good ones before I could grab it.

So it's back in it's fish tank and looks like it's back to plan b

Oh well at least you gave it a go. :)

Teila ...... Thanks so much for answering my question about 'old eggs' and exploding eggs.

Much appreciated.

Have never had a 'rotten' egg from my girls ( yet ) ... but have had a couple of purchased eggs that were off - and I mean OFF..... the smell is enough to knock you out.

Since that happened a few years back, I break open all eggs ( even those from my girls ) with a quick tap, using a knife and always smell the contents before adding them to whatever.

There would be nothing worse

than when preparing to e.g. bake a cake, cracking an egg into a bowl and ---- then - - - - everything having to be thrown out.

Cooking shows do it all the time ... amazes me that they never seem to wash fresh produce like strawberries straight out of a plastic punnet, or lettuce / other vegies, or check on eggs !!

Have a good week everybody ---

Cheers .....

I've never had a rotten one in the kitchen but I've had bloody ones even from coles. I tend to break them into a cup first when cooking for about six months after one of those, then I start getting lazy.........until the next cake mix I have to chuck then the cycle begins again ;-)

Sorry to hear she rejected them again.
At least with only two to hand raise they won't produce as much poop as 10 do! After 8 weeks of Cleaning out their brooder daily, I am ready for a 'poop break' :p
