Thanks yes she seems to be doing well this morning. Back hanging out with her mate Sunday.
Oh how disappointing and sad for you both :-(. Glad she seems to be okay though!

Morning all. Well the shearer was a no show so at 6pm the vet came out and gave patsy a shot . At just before midnight she delivered a little boy which unfortunately didn't make it. He looked fine maybe a little small but other than that I don't know. I guess some just aren't meant to make it. Bit sad for patsy to go through all that and not have a bubby for all her efforts.
Good morning Friends![]()
RodneyRooster yep, so much happens in a week around here! Wonderful to read that integration of Vonte & Co was smooth. No such luck at Bambrook Bantams, home of the prima donna princesses where any newbie is seen as possible competition for the spotlightSorry to read about Snow’s not so successful attempt though

locknest4 I have not had to cull a chicken [or chick for that matter] and do not think I could. Luckily, even though my Vet is not an Avian Specialist she will [and has] euthanized for me when all hope is lost. She is just down the road and did not charge me when I took a badly injured chick.
Anniebee thank you for the suggestion about keeping GodCilla inside, I am not too sure how sleepy and docile she would be with two cats trying to break down the door to wherever I put her. Still, it would take her mind off being broody![]()
Aaaaw satay I am so sorry to read about Patsy’s little oneHow sad for her and you but as Fancy mentioned, at least she is OK and can try again. Good news on Zeus though

I know it is probably my fault for not leaving GodCilla in containment 24/7 and leaving her in the flock where temptation looms but I do believe that the previously mentioned jumping on backs and pulling of combs may not be a sign of hormonal aggression but more of a ‘come on .. lay an egg so that I can sit on it!’.
This morning Cilla was quite happily scratching around the run, grooming on a perch, having breakfast etc, not the slightest bit interested in the opened nest boxes. Crystal, however, was in the nest box laying her egg. I go inside, make coffee, go back outside .. no Cilla! For Pete’s sake, this chicken can smell an egg at 100 paces!
So, I peeled her off the egg, plonked her in the run again, took the egg inside, went back outside and she was trying to hatch the egg indent in the straw :/
‘What we’ve got here is failure to communicate’ … . Root march back to solitary with a little baseball glove and baseball .. Cool Hand Cilla!

It's an ' off label ' product , not recommended for use in food producing birds. But here is the dosage as recommended by their vet.
