Id love Porcelain but realize alot of people wont part with them or just dont have them.

Oh dear, the home my little guy was going to if it is a rooster was wiped out last night by a fox. 20 odd birds all dead. :-(

Poor chickens. I got rid of 6 today, so I was able to count my chooks. I have 11 pullets, 1 cockerel and 5 chicks that look to be about 6 weeks, but I don't know how old they actually are.

I should also add I have 5 eggs in the brooder cause the hen gave up and I don't have an incubator. Candles yesterday and they are showing much clearer development than I saw in any I actually incubated.

Foxes are horrible things to deal with. I have lost a few turkeys to them over the years.

It was nice to see some though … I will pass on the 'hundreds of them', two was fine.

Poppets Pekins good luck with your search for some Pekins. Sorry, not to say that there are not any, but I do not know of any breeders close by. One of my Pekins came from Northside Produce but that was a few years ago and while I have been back only a couple of times since then for various things, they did not appear to have much in the way of Pekins.

Brookfield Produce also had some speciality breeds last time I was there, 8 or 9 months ago.

My Frizzle Pekin was picked up at Chandler Markets where a breeder from Kingaroy had a stall.

Other than that, I have ordered in fertile eggs from interstate.

appps oh no, that is sad news.

Not chicken related but we had an eventful evening .. I was in the kitchen, which is probably only 12 feet or so from the neighbours place when I heard an awful ruckus, lots of shouting, swearing and screaming. Hubby, who was around the other side of the house at the BBQ heard it also and came around to check it out .. he caught a glimpse of what looked like someone pushing someone else’s head into a security screen door and came in and told me to call the Police.

I hate calling the Police in this situation because if it is just a fighting couple, do the Police need to be involved? Am I wasting their time? Anyways, with all the publicity about domestic violence, I rang.

In the meantime, his shouting turned to more of a moaning/wailing cry, so I do not know if he hurt her or she retaliated at him but anyways, turns out ringing the Police was probably the right thing to do .. not long after the first car arrived, two more joined it and then an ambulance.

I have no idea what happened but I just hope everyone is OK … My life has had it’s ups and downs but I have luckily never had to deal with domestic violence .. it really saddens and bewilders me what we humans are capable of but even moreso when it is a couple with young children whose fighting gets to that level

Having the police pay a visit may just remind them of their obligation to provide a safe home for their children.
