I really think I need a critter cam in the back yard .. Monday morning I found fresh dog poop in the chicken’s garden, we do not have a dog

Eeew Sam that is early!! Great pics of the Harbour!

Phew LuckysMum I am glad you found Lucky!

Fancy I am with you .. while I hate killing them, I prefer the trap to do it, rather than catch them and do it myself.

Anniebee Mindy is adorable! I love her colouring!

I could not let this year’s moult season go by without sharing embarrassing photos of Dusty. Good job we have a substantial supply of meal worms because she is not going to be impressed with me after I told her last year that I would not do it again
wink.png
While I had the camera out, I took the opportunity to take some up-to-date snaps of the whole flock.

Last night when she went to bed, Dusty had a tail, this afternoon she has half a tail …

Crystal is also moulting but rather than the bald-look, she has gone more for the unloved-waif-look …

LuLu was happy to show off all her new feathers and pleased that she has been there and done that without photos being taken .....

Blondie reckons that no moult is going to stop her looking like a Princess!

Cilla does not do moult, she just gets the underlings to do it for her

appps ... this might be of interest ( and perhaps surprise ) to you.   It is a pdf but is easy to read on line. :  http://www.aspenpharma.com.au/patRes/WarfarinInformationBooklet.pdf

Your last words here are the perfect example.  "fixed it within a few hours".    People bleeding very profusely from a bad accident, don't have a 'few hours'.   You were only reversing the effects of the drug, not trying to save your life.

It was wise  that you made your own card to put into your wallet.   The number of other drugs that are common enough, which increase ( or reduce ) the activity of Warfarin are listed on this link .   There are many others that are not common in use.     This link also advises :

It is a good idea to wear an alert bracelet (such as a Medic Alert
00ae.png
) and/or to carry a warfarin identification card
to notify other people that you are taking warfarin. Registering for personally controlled eHealth Record (PCEHR) is also a good idea.
More information about eHealth Records is available at http://www.ehealth.gov.au/internet/ehealth/publishing.nsf/content/home

As with many things, it comes down to cost.   Warfarin is cheap - - but requires constant checking of levels of INR.    Clexane is expensive, does not require a blood test more than about once every 6 months, and is a sub-cut injection, of particular strengths.   It also has a range of contra-indications, but not as many of the commonly used drugs.   Most drugs we take have some form of contra-indication to other drugs, and some even to food ( e.g.  Warfarin can be inteferred with by drinking cranberry juice for gosh sakes   ).

Reversal of Clexane with Vitamin K is checked 10 > 30 minutes after the initial dose to take an INR reading, and thereafter at varying intervals ( perhaps depending on the hospital rules ?? ).

Cheers .......

I guess I mean not too bad compared to others. Like before warfarin I was on aspirin but there is no reversing that one so my dr said the warfarin was actually safer in that way.

Mine are regretting their decision to go into moult, being as there is snow forecast for the mountain tonight. One of my BLRW looks like she just escaped the cooking pot. :D

Are you sure it was dog poo, not something else? Was it huge or smaller? Could be a cat.

Well, the eggs seem to occur in the same nest box. What I didn't realise is that they are in there at the same time. I opened to door to find Grace sitting on Flossie's head. Her egg was warm. And Flossie was sitting there.... She did do an egg, but she seemed to just be sitting when I saw her, just like yesterday. If they get up and go outside, is it ok for them so sit on the eggs for a little while? Is is only when they stay there and don't do anything else that they are "broody"?

Tee hee Fancy yeah, at least my moulters do not have cold temps and snow to contend with

It is currently a nice 23.5C

potato chip I think it was dog poop .. I did Google Fox poop images but there were so many different types, I could not be sure. Does anyone know if fox poop looks like dog poop? It was definitely larger than my cat’s poop and he does some beauties and I think it was probably larger than what you would expect from a fox also

There appeared to have been no effort to bury it.

Yep, as long as she is not fluffing up, pancaking and rushing back to the nest box minutes after you take her off, it is OK for her to stay for a little while. A couple of mine linger, while others just do the business and get back to mooching. Dusty will actually lay an egg, go outside for 10-15mins and then go back to the nest box, regardless of whether there is an egg in there or not and just sit for 30mins or so and then out again. She has never been broody and has always done that.

Have often spoken about Mindy Araucana, and a few people here said they'd like to see photos' of her. Finally got around to taking them, so here are a couple : She's a feisty sweetheart. Inspecting the garden - well away from the two big girls though..... I thought she had finished her moult at this point, but she seems to have begun again - or at least around her head and neck now. ???
Now why did I imagine her as lavender. She's lovely. Thanks for that

Yes, apparently aspirin can be a bit dicey. Too much of it can cause the opposite effect to that one might want. A Dr. told me taking too much ( which some older people do because they believe doing so to be the right thing !! ) ... can actually aid in causing clotting ( the direct opposite to what is wanted ). 1/2 an aspirin a day was recommended a while back, but I don't know if the medics. have changed their minds about that.

potatochip Straight Araucana I think they have curly feathers around their face.

Anniebee Mindy is beautiful not at all like I thought she would be. She looks big.

I have 7 ISA's at the moment and these are the eggs I'm getting (who needs easter eggers) The bottom left is quite speckled.

We've gone from one extreme to another. Now on flood watch, just saved momma and her 6 chicks from the rising waters.
