Hi there Tryinglittleleg and aussie1chook nice to meet you and welcome to the thread.

appps aaaaw, poor Penny, I do hope the Aussies settle down and soon.

SilkieChickStar Rosie is a cutie!

Plodding along nicely here, no news of note.

Thanks for the information. putting them down without any research wouldn't be right. However the risk of them having Marek's means I've got to try different remedies quickly.

There are several ailments that mimick the symptoms of mareks disease and with all the birds can suffer lameness or paralysis in one or both legs.
Here is a list of just some that you need to go through because you are the only one that can or will know if there is a possibility of them having access to mouldy food etc. it really is a process of elimination unless you are prepared to take one of the birds for necropsy.
Vitamin deficiency, avian lymphoid leukosis, heavy metal or lead poisoning, botulism, parasite infestation , avian encephalitis , viral tenosynovitis, mycoplasma , mouldy food and plain old injury.
I would suggest that you start with adding a multi vitamin to the water, check them over with a fine tooth comb for parasites and check the feed and the way it is stored. Here's all you need to know about mareks, give it a good read and remember , even if it is mareks, it's not the end of the world. :)
I would also like to commend you for exercising a quarantine period for new birds.

Reminded me, when I got my faverolles at 11 wks old one of them went lame like that. I decided in the end it was because the breeder had told me he had them on layer feed since they got off starter and that can cause rickets in young birds (missed how old the op's were). A few weeks on grower and it vanished.

They also all got diareah when I changed them suddenly to the new feed we used instead of the one they were used too.

That's interesting! What grower do you use? And from which age?
